Lotus Covered Plum Jar

Xu Yin

A top-like knot stands erect upon a flawlessly shaped lid, covering this vessel’s contracted mouth. The shoulder is adorned with a recurring lotus pattern, delicate yet meticulously ornate. From the neck and shoulder the piece gradually becomes wider, filling out into a perfect belly. The silhouette’s fullness then tapers off from the belly towards the foot, producing a faultless curve. The glaze is ethereal and piercingly genuine, resembling a cascading waterfall.
